Star Sedge

Do you have an area that stays constantly moist?  A problem area in the lawn with too much water that might require an expensive French drain? Nature has a solution. Star Sedge thrives in consistently wet soil in full sun. It blooms for 100+ days in summer (May-August) with little white blooms that attract insect pollinators. If you have soil that is mostly wet but dries out for 30 days in summer, just give it a little extra watering during that infrequent dry spell. This is a plant that keeps on giving. You can dig and divide the plant every other year as the clumps will expand slowly. Cut back in winter for fresh growth in spring. French drains are expensive and can fail.
