Love hibiscus flowers? Try the Rock Rose in your garden, as it's in the same plant family (Malvaceae). Great for attracting hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies, it's a real pollinator magnet. Highly tolerant of dry soil (native to South Texas), it does well in dry, harsh sun areas that slope to the West facing the setting sun, areas where more sensitive plants might struggle to thrive. It can get 4 feet tall, though trimming back in spring will encourage bushier growth at just 3 feet. Learn more at Native Plant Society and Master Gardener and Nativo Gardens.
