An excellent groundcover for hot, dry sunny areas to help cut back on your water bill. No mowing required as it grows just 12" tall. In summer, you'll enjoy 100+ days of yellow blooms that generally open up in the late evening. This plant will help attract sphinx/hawk moths which are (almost) the same size as a hummingbird!
Sphinx moths visit gardens in late afternoon through sunset and into the night, helping pollinate these blooms (a full moon is a great time to see them in action!). This native plant is found growing wild in Texas from North Texas all the way down to Austin and San Antonio (and in the Panhandle too). Thick, glossy, leathery leaves are highly adapted to thrive in drought conditions. Learn more at Native Plant Society, Native Gardeners, and Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.
