Very heat and drought tolerant, Mexican Oregano offers lavender-purple blooms that are loved by bees. The leaves are edible and spicier than true oregano. It's native to Mexico, but thrives here in North Texas where you can let it grow to 4' tall, or prune it back in late spring for a shorter 2' tall bush. New leaves in spring are a very glossy, deep green. Learn more at Nativo Gardens and from Pam Penick.
