Although not native to North Texas, Mexican Flame Vine is great at attracting butterflies and hummingbirds to the garden. With 100+ days of blooms, plant it in Afternoon or Full Sun to give it plenty of energy to put on lots of flowers. It is frost-sensitive, so it grows as an annual here in North Texas. Take a stem cutting in mid-November, before frost, and bring that cutting indoors in a small pot over winter. Plant it again in the garden in early April after danger of frost has passed to keep this plant in your garden year after year. Learn more at Missouri Botanical Garden and Native Gardeners.
