Blooming in late summer, Blazing Star (aka Gayfeather and Liatris) attracts butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, the American Bumblebee, moths, wasps, and beetles. Texas is home to an incredible diversity of this native plant with over 20 different species! The species we sell is Liatris spicata (which has a slightly different appearance than Liatris punctata). Birds visit in the fall to eat the seeds, and as the flowers bloom in late fall it's a Monarch favorite during the October migration south to Mexico.
