One of the largest members of the Rudbeckia family, and a relative of the Black Eyed Susan, the Giant Coneflower can get as tall as 7 feet! It thrives in full sun and is highly drought-tolerant, although it likes wet soils where it will grow taller. The basal leaves are a lovely blue-green, thick, and cabbage-like. In warm winters, the leaves are evergreen. Birds love the seeds from these flowers, and seeds will also fall nearby to give you a thicker stand over several years. An excellent plant for a border to create a sense of enclosure (without fully blocking the view beyond). Learn more at Native Plant Society and Native Gardener.
