Native Ornamental Grasses

Native grasses are highly drought tolerant, produce seeds that support wildlife, and are host plants. They need no extra water once established and they are clumping, getting slightly wider each year until reaching maturity (like a tree!). If you need a short grass in the front or middle of a garden, chose Blue Grama (1-2 feet) or Sideoats Grama (2-3 feet). For a taller ornamental grass in the garden center or along a fence or border, go with Little Bluestem (4 feet) or Switchgrass (4-6 feet).
