Great for moist shady areas, the Texas Gold Columbine is native to southern Texas. In North Texas, it will want some additional water in summer. It does cast seed prolifically so it will provide a denser mass planting over time (avoid growing other columbines nearby as it will cross-pollinate with them!). Start with two plants and let them cast seed for a mass planting over a few years. Bright yellow blooms are well loved by butterflies and bumblebees, and even hummingbirds may show some interest in them. Learn more at Native Plant Society and Nativo Gardens.
