Native to West Texas with far less rainfall than we receive in North Texas, Autumn Sage is probably the best plant for reducing your water bill while also attracting hummingbirds and butterflies.
With so many colors to choose from, the most popular are red, white, and pink. For an area that gets a bit less sun, the white variety will do better than the others, with bushier foliage. Red and pink types want as much sun as possible, and will get larger than the white type. The leaves have a very pleasant aroma, making it a good plant to include along walkways.
